Bio
Draft prospect Wil Malady has established himself as a dynamic, match-winning forward out of Bairnsdale and the Gippsland Power. The athletic goalkicker represented Vic Country at the National Championships and was a member of the AFL National Academy. Malady cemented his status as a top-10 draft contender during Gippsland's drought-breaking 2026 Talent League premiership run. He opened the season with a dominant six-goal haul against the Murray Bushrangers and saved his best for the Grand Final. Against the Dandenong Stingrays, he booted five goals, including a brilliant three-goal burst in the third quarter to turn the game.
Operating as a mobile third tall forward, Malady is revered for his sublime aerial ability. Scouts praise his vertical leap, clean hands and body control, noting he often seems to float through the air to pluck spectacular marks. While he lacks traditional key position size, his agility and speed make him a constant threat, which he reinforced with an elite sprint time at the National Draft Combine. Although recruiters believe he needs to build his consistency, physical strength and forward pressure, his raw talent makes him a highly coveted first-round prospect.
