Bio
Selected with pick four in the 2011 National Draft, Will Hoskin-Elliott was a foundational piece of the Greater Western Sydney Giants' inaugural squad. Arriving from the Western Jets with high expectations attached to his elite athleticism and overhead marking ability, he showed flashes of brilliance during his time in Sydney but struggled to cement a consistent role amidst the Giants' overflow of young talent. Seeking greater continuity and a return to Victoria, he was traded to Collingwood ahead of the 2017 season, a move that proved immediately revitalising as he missed only a handful of games over his first three seasons at the club.
A prototype running utility, Hoskin-Elliott is renowned for his aerobic capacity and deceptive vertical leap, allowing him to impact contests as a high-marking target or a link-up player in transition. While initially deployed as a goalkicking half-forward—booting a career-high 42 goals during the Magpies' 2018 Grand Final campaign—his role evolved significantly in his later years. Under Craig McRae, he transitioned into a disciplined wingman and defensive utility, becoming a premiership player in 2023. Now a highly experienced veteran, he remains a vital structural component for Collingwood, valued for his durability and ability to plug holes across the ground.
