Bio
Recruited from VFA club Port Melbourne, Will Kuhlken was a powerful forward and ruckman whose arrival at Geelong was initially delayed by a clearance dispute with South Melbourne. Once cleared to play in 1930, he quickly established himself as a reliable avenue to goal for the Cats, using his strong frame to provide a key target in an era of success for the club. A consistent contributor who averaged better than a goal a game, Kuhlken was a fixture of the Geelong side during the early 1930s before being involved in a notable player swap during the 1936 season. In a move to bolster their respective lists, he was traded to Carlton in exchange for George Dougherty, but his time at Princes Park was brief; he managed just seven games for the Blues before departing to captain-coach Kyneton in 1937.
