Bio
Recruited from the Brisbane Lions Academy with pick 44 in the 2019 National Draft, Will Martyn was a prolific ball-winning midfielder who struggled to bridge the gap between state league dominance and regular senior football. Arriving at Punt Road during the height of the club's premiership era, he faced immense competition for a spot in the engine room, eventually carving out a niche as a high-production on-baller in the reserves. His consistency at the lower level was highlighted when he won the Guinane & Juett Medal as Richmond's VFL Best and Fairest in 2021, the same year he made his AFL debut against Port Adelaide. Despite showing he was a cut above VFL standard, Martyn could not permanently displace the Tigers' established midfield stars and was delisted at the conclusion of the 2022 season after just three senior appearances.
