Bio
Recruited from the Oakleigh Chargers with pick 24 in the 2001 National Draft, Will Slade was a pacy midfielder whose AFL career was severely hampered by persistent injuries. Initially showing promise as a run-with player capable of applying defensive pressure, Slade debuted in 2002 and played a handful of games over his first two seasons. However, his development at Kardinia Park was derailed by a debilitating battle with osteitis pubis, which forced him to miss the entirety of the 2004 and 2005 seasons just as the Cats were emerging as a finals force. Although he showed significant resilience to return to senior football in 2006, he was unable to cement a spot in Geelong's deepening midfield rotation and was delisted at the end of the year.
