Recruited from the Dandenong Stingrays with pick 30 in the 2018 National Draft, Will Hamill arrived at Adelaide possessing an athletic profile defined by elite speed and agility. Developing into a dashing small defender, he was tasked with providing run-and-carry from the back half while maintaining defensive accountability against opposition small forwards. However, his six-season tenure at West Lakes was marred by a lack of continuity, as recurring injuries and concussion protocols frequently interrupted his momentum and relegated him to the fringes of the best 22. Despite showing glimpses of his line-breaking potential, Hamill struggled to cement a permanent role in the senior side and was delisted by the Crows at the end of the 2024 season after 45 games.
