Bio
Recruited from Narrandera via the GWS Academy, Zac Williams holds the distinction of being the first Academy graduate to debut for the Giants after being selected in the rookie draft. He quickly developed into a key rebounding defender for the expansion side, using his evasive skills and precise kicking to break lines and launch counter-attacks. Williams became a vital component of the Giants' back six, playing a significant role in their run to the 2019 Grand Final and establishing himself as one of the most dynamic half-backs in the competition.
Following the 2020 season, Williams exercised his rights as a Restricted Free Agent to join Carlton on a long-term deal, initially intending to transition permanently into the midfield. His tenure at Princes Park has been defined by resilience, as he shouldered the weight of expectation accompanying a lucrative contract while battling persistent injury setbacks, including a ruptured ACL that erased his entire 2023 campaign. While he often returned to his customary role across half-back, Williams displayed impressive versatility in the latter stages of his career by reinventing himself as a creative small forward, providing goal-kicking impact and defensive pressure when the Blues required a spark.
