Recruited from Glenelg with pick 58 in the 2011 National Draft, Lachie Neale is widely regarded as one of the greatest recruiting bargains in modern history. Initially serving an apprenticeship under established midfielders at Fremantle, he developed into a prolific ball-winner known for his clean hands and elite stoppage craft. He claimed two Doig Medals at the Dockers and played as the substitute in the 2013 Grand Final, eventually requesting a trade to the Brisbane Lions at the end of 2018 to seek a fresh challenge and lead a developing midfield group.

Neale's move to Queensland elevated his standing in the game, as he transformed into a premier clearance specialist and a dual Brownlow Medallist in 2020 and 2023. His consistency and ability to extract the ball from congested situations were pivotal in driving the Lions' return to powerhouse status, highlighted by his role as co-captain in the club's 2024 premiership triumph. Now a highly decorated veteran approaching the 300-game milestone, Neale remains the heartbeat of the Brisbane engine room, respected for his relentless work ethic and ability to perform under pressure.
