Bio
Selected by Fremantle with the second pick in the 2017 National Draft, Andrew Brayshaw entered the AFL with a prestigious sporting pedigree as the son of North Melbourne administrator Mark and brother of premiership Demon Angus. He quickly justified the hype, establishing himself as a relentless two-way midfielder renowned for his elite endurance and defensive accountability. While his debut season was curtailed by a significant jaw injury sustained in a heated Western Derby, Brayshaw’s return highlighted his resilience, and he steadily evolved from a talented youngster into one of the competition’s most consistent ball-winners.
Brayshaw’s ascent to the game’s elite was confirmed in 2022 when he won the Leigh Matthews Trophy as the AFL Players’ Association MVP, alongside his first Doig Medal and All-Australian selection. A neat user of the ball who works as hard without possession as he does with it, he has become the heartbeat of the Dockers’ engine room and a key figure in the club’s leadership group. Now a seasoned veteran with 170 games of experience, Brayshaw continues to drive standards at Fremantle, combining high-volume accumulation with the fierce tackling pressure that has become his trademark.
