Fantasy

Drafted by Gold Coast with pick six in the 2018 National Draft, Ben King arrived in Queensland just two picks after his twin brother Max was selected by St Kilda, a separation that fuelled immediate and persistent speculation regarding a future reunion in Victoria. Despite the constant external noise and the challenge of adjusting to an interstate club, King committed his long-term future to the Suns, quickly developing into the focal point of their attack. His rapid ascent hit a major hurdle when he missed the entire 2022 season due to a ruptured ACL, but he returned to re-establish himself as one of the competition's most productive key forwards, consistently leading the club's goalkicking tables.

An athletic 202cm spearhead, King relies on his explosive pace on the lead and strong overhead marking to dominate defenders. While he has occasionally battled inconsistency with his set-shot routine, his ability to separate from opponents and compete in the air makes him a constant threat inside 50. As a vital structural pillar for Gold Coast, he has shouldered the heavy burden of being the primary target during a developmental period for the club, maturing into a key leader and a reliable avenue to goal for the Suns.
