Bio
Cooper Hodge has officially chosen to follow his famous family ties, nominating Hawthorn as a father-son selection over his priority link to the Brisbane Lions Academy. The son of four-time premiership captain Luke Hodge, the tough midfielder and general forward has spent the past six years developing in Queensland. His pathway includes stepping up to play for Brisbane's reserves in the VFL and an impressive National Championships campaign for the Allies, highlighted by a standout performance in an upset win over Western Australia. He also turned heads with a breakout ball-winning game in the Talent League and impressed at the state combine, where he topped the vertical jump and clocked one of the fastest sprint times.
On the field, Hodge shows shades of his father's uncompromising competitiveness. He is celebrated for his clean hands, dogged ground-level play and ability to absorb tackle pressure. Scouts note his gritty contested work is a major strength, although he occasionally lacks poise and can dump the ball by hand, making his kicking and composure under pressure areas for improvement. Hodge is widely expected to be taken by the Hawks as a late selection in the national draft.
