Family

Recruited from Mitiamo in the Bendigo Football League, Ken Sheldon established himself as a dynamic rover and forward pocket during a golden era for the Carlton Football Club. As a central figure in the Blues' famous "Mosquito Fleet," he combined relentless running with a sharp goal sense, playing a pivotal role in the premiership triumphs of 1979, 1981, and 1982. His career is indelibly linked to one of the game's most enduring moments, as he was the beneficiary of Wayne Harmes' boundary-line tap to kick the sealing goal in the 1979 Grand Final.

Following a decorated decade at Princes Park, Sheldon crossed to St Kilda in 1987, bringing valuable experience to a young list at Moorabbin. He spent his final three playing seasons with the Saints, offering on-field leadership before seamlessly transitioning into the coaches' box. He was appointed senior coach of St Kilda in 1990, where he famously ended the club's 18-year finals drought, cementing his legacy as both a triple-premiership player and an astute football tactician.
