Bio
Hailing from Horsham, Adrian Hickmott was selected by Geelong with pick 46 in the 1991 National Draft. A tenacious competitor, he carved out a niche in a strong Cats lineup as a hard-working half-forward, eventually featuring in the 1995 Grand Final loss to the very team he would later join. Following that season, Hickmott crossed to Carlton in a trade arrangement, seeking greater security and opportunity at Princes Park. He quickly endeared himself to the Blues faithful through his uncompromising attack on the football, establishing a reputation as a player who thrived on physical contact and contested situations.
While capable of hitting the scoreboard, Hickmott evolved into one of the league's pioneering defensive forwards and a reliable run-with player. His willingness to sacrifice his own game for the team structure made him a favourite of coach David Parkin, and he played a pivotal role in the Blues' surprising run to the 1999 Grand Final. Recognized for his leadership and cultural impact with the Best Clubman award in 2001, he remained a spiritual leader at the club during a turbulent era. Hickmott retired in 2003 as a highly respected "heart and soul" figure before transitioning into a successful career in coaching.
