Bio
Recruited from Horsham in the Wimmera region, Peter Hickmott was a serviceable utility who found his niche as a defensive tagger. He made an immediate impression at Windy Hill, winning Essendon's Best First Year Player award in 1972, but struggled to consistently hold a spot in the senior side throughout the decade. often oscillating between the ones and the reserves. While he won a reserves Best and Fairest in 1975, his senior opportunities came largely from his ability to perform disciplined run-with roles on dangerous opposition playmakers. After leaving the Bombers at the end of 1977, he resurfaced in the VFL three years later for a brief final stint with Footscray. He is the uncle of former Geelong and Carlton utility Adrian Hickmott.
