Bio
Recruited from Parkdale Amateurs, Allan Moncrieff was a versatile utility capable of lining up at half-forward or in the centre. He broke into the Footscray side as a teenager in 1943, but his career was quickly put on hold by service in the Australian Army during World War II. Returning to the VFL in 1945, he established himself as a handy goal-kicker who used his strong 185cm frame to impact contests, eventually tallying 67 games across nine interrupted years. Although he finished up at the top level in 1951, the Moncrieff name remained prominent in Victorian football through his son, future Hawthorn sharpshooter Michael Moncrieff.
