Bio
Arriving at Tullamarine with the weight of expectation attached to a famous surname, Alwyn Davey Jnr joined Essendon as a father-son selection in the 2022 National Draft, aiming to replicate the elite pressure acts that defined his father's career. A fleet-footed small forward with a natural instinct for tackling and defensive running, he debuted in the opening round of the 2023 season, marking a memorable occasion alongside his twin brother Jayden. While he demonstrated glimpses of his pace and creativity, Davey Jnr found it difficult to consistently impact the scoreboard at senior level, managing just nine goals across his 20 appearances. Often caught between the AFL side and the VFL as he worked to build his endurance and physical presence, he was ultimately unable to secure a permanent position in the forward line and departed the club following the 2025 season.
