Bio
Recruited via the Demons' pioneering Scholarship Squad pathway from Mentone Grammar, Andrew Moir was a clever half-forward and wingman who became a regular fixture in the Melbourne side during the late 1970s. Standing 183cm, Moir was deceptive in the air with a strong overhead mark for his size, often drifting forward to act as a dangerous scoring option, highlighted by a career-best five-goal haul against North Melbourne in 1979. His progress was halted by a knee injury the following season, and after falling out of favour at the Demons, he spent a year in the VFA with Prahran before North Melbourne offered him a lifeline in a trade for Rodney Wright. Despite the move to Arden Street for the 1983 season, Moir was unable to break into the senior side, leaving his final VFL tally at 73 games before he returned to local football with Beaumaris; his family connection to the Demons was later revived by his nephew, dashing defender Jayden Hunt.
