Bio
Recruited by Melbourne with pick 57 in the 2013 National Draft, Jayden Hunt was considered a speculative selection having played school football for Brighton Grammar rather than progressing through the traditional TAC Cup pathway. He developed into a line-breaking half-back flanker, becoming a fan favourite for his distinctive headband, blistering speed, and willingness to take the game on with aggressive run-and-carry. Despite being a regular fixture in the senior side for much of his time at the Demons, including 20 games during the 2021 season, a late-season ankle injury saw him fall out of the rotation just prior to the finals, causing him to miss the club's drought-breaking premiership victory.
Seeking greater opportunity and role security, Hunt exercised his rights as an unrestricted free agent to join West Coast ahead of the 2023 season. He immediately injected elite pace into an Eagles lineup that was often criticised for being too slow during a difficult rebuilding phase, shifting between half-back and the wing to provide drive from the back half. Hunt served as a durable and experienced head for the developing West Coast list, using his rebounding instincts and seniority to stabilise the team's transition game until concluding his tenure in 2025.
