Bio
Archie Van Dyk is a big-bodied inside midfielder from Port Noarlunga who developed through South Adelaide's junior grades. A lower back injury delayed his season and restricted him to one appearance for South Australia at the National Championships. He finished his draft year exceptionally well, returning through the under-18s to win a weekly AAMI Talent League MVP award. He carried that momentum higher, making his Hostplus SANFL League debut for the Panthers and claiming the Bob Lee Medal as best afield in the reserves Grand Final.
At 191cm, Van Dyk is a pure inside ball-winner who reads the play early and excels at stoppages. Scouts praise his clean hands at ground level and fearless overhead marking, allowing him to outmuscle opponents in contests. While there were initial questions over his pace and outside game, he answered critics by placing eighth nationally in the two-kilometre time trial at the AFL Draft Combine. Once viewed as a potential top-10 prospect before his injury, his commanding finish to the season reaffirmed his value. He is widely projected to be taken in the first three rounds, with strong local rumours linking him to Adelaide.
