Bio
Born in Hastings, England, Arnie Wilson arrived at St Kilda via the unique pathway of the Melbourne Swimming Club, a recruiting ground that also provided the Saints with teammate Wally Gant. An athletic prospect who relied on natural fitness rather than a traditional footballing apprenticeship, Wilson found the transition to the elite level difficult, managing just two senior appearances spread across the 1909 and 1910 seasons. Unable to cement a spot in the defensive or midfield rotations, his time in the VFL was fleeting, though he established a lasting family legacy at the club. He is best remembered today as the father of Ron Wilson, who later played for both Melbourne and St Kilda and became a celebrated professional sprinter and Stawell Gift finalist.
