Bio
Hailing from New South Wales, a rarity for VFL footballers of the federation era, Artie Pattinson was an imposing physical specimen who arrived at St Kilda as a mature-age recruit. Standing 189cm and weighing over 90kg, he was a giant among his contemporaries and provided a formidable target in attack for a Saints lineup destined for the wooden spoon. He finally broke into the senior side late in the 1909 season at 29 years of age, making an immediate impact with two goals on debut against Fitzroy followed by another brace against Geelong the following week. Despite averaging a goal a game during his month-long stint in the seniors, his top-level career was limited to this brief four-game cameo to close out the year.
