Bio
Recruited with pick 77 in the 1994 National Draft, Ben Dixon overcame his low draft status to become a fixture of the Hawthorn forward line for a decade. A smooth-moving medium forward, he was renowned for his strong leading patterns, safe hands, and generally reliable set-shot kicking. While rarely the primary target inside 50, Dixon served as a crucial link man between the midfield and the deep forwards, using his football intelligence to find space in dangerous areas and punishing defenders who allowed him too much room.
His career is most often remembered for his composure under pressure, specifically his match-winning goal after the siren against Carlton at the MCG in 2001. Dixon remained a constant during a fluctuating era for the Hawks, playing a key role in bridging the gap between the departure of 1990s stars and the emergence of the club's next premiership dynasty. He retired in 2007 having just passed the 200-game milestone, cementing his status as a loyal one-club player who maximized his opportunities at the elite level.
