Stats
Bio
Hailing from Yarrawonga in the strong Ovens & Murray Football League, Joe Dixon was a solidly built key position prospect who earned his opportunity with Fitzroy during the 1963 season. Standing at 188cm, he brought significant size to a struggling Lions outfit that was in the midst of a horror one-win campaign, breaking into the senior side for a five-game block between Rounds 5 and 9. While his own VFL tenure was brief and yielded no goals, he returned to country football as a highly respected figure in his local community. His family's connection to the elite level was later successfully revived by his son, Ben Dixon, who carved out a 203-game career as a sharpshooter for Hawthorn.
