Stats
Bio
Recruited from North Hobart with pick 40 in the 1989 National Draft, Ben Robertson was a diminutive rover and small forward who served a significant apprenticeship before breaking into the senior side. Despite arriving at Princes Park in late 1989, he spent several seasons developing in the reserves, blocked by the formidable depth of a Carlton midfield brigade that featured stars like Greg Williams, Craig Bradley, and Brett Ratten. He finally earned his debut in Round 13, 1992 against West Coast, making an immediate impact by snagging two goals, but found it difficult to retain his spot in a team rapidly building towards premiership contention. Robertson managed just one further senior appearance in early 1993 before being delisted at the conclusion of the 1994 season, ultimately unable to secure a permanent role in the Blues' powerful line-up.
