Bio
Recruited from Wonthaggi, Ian Robertson established himself as a dashing wingman for Carlton during a golden era for the club. Possessing excellent stamina and a penetrating kick, he became a vital link player in Ron Barassi's system, famously helping to spark the Blues' second-half revival in the 1970 Grand Final after coming onto the ground as a reserve. A triple premiership player with victories in 1968, 1970, and 1972, Robertson provided the outside run that complemented Carlton's powerful forward setups of the period.
Despite his standing at Princes Park, injuries began to hamper his impact in his later seasons. In a surprise mid-season move during 1974, he was cleared to Footscray, but his time at the Western Oval was brief. He managed just four senior appearances for the Bulldogs before retiring, leaving a legacy as a key component of one of Carlton's most successful dynasties.
