Bio
Recruited to St Kilda with selection 17 in the "super draft" of 2001, Ben Schwarze joined his older brother Troy at Moorabbin with significant expectations attached to his arrival. A versatile utility typically deployed across half-back or the wing, he possessed good athleticism but struggled to break into a developing Saints lineup, managing just seven games over two seasons before being delisted. The Kangaroos offered him an AFL lifeline via the rookie list in 2005, where his consistent VFL form earned him elevation to the senior squad and four additional appearances at the top level. Despite this second opportunity, Schwarze was unable to cement a regular spot in the North Melbourne side and was delisted at the conclusion of the 2006 season.
