Benjamin Hollands

Recruited from North Albury with the weight of expectation attached to a top-ten selection, Ben Hollands was taken by Richmond with pick 8 in the 1995 National Draft but endured a difficult start to his AFL life. Plagued by injuries and unable to crack a regular spot, the tall utility waited until 1999 to make his debut and managed just two senior appearances for the Tigers before being delisted. After moving to South Australia and impressing with West Adelaide in the SANFL, he was handed a lifeline by Port Adelaide, where he added six games and five goals as a versatile key position option during the 2001 season. Unable to cement a place in a formidable Power lineup, Hollands eventually returned to country football, though his name remains prominent in the league today as the father of Carlton duo Elijah and Ollie Hollands.
