Bio
Born in the goldfields town of Kangaroo Flat, Bert Field was a country recruit who earned a brief trial with St Kilda during the 1906 VFL season. Standing 175cm, Field joined a Saints outfit that was attempting to drag itself up from the bottom of the ladder, eventually finishing sixth in a much-improved year for the club. He was granted just two senior opportunities to showcase his talents at the elite level but failed to impact the scoreboard or secure a regular position in a side that was beginning to find some rare consistency. With his VFL tenure ending almost as quickly as it began, Field left the league scene following his short stint, eventually living a long life before passing away in Malvern at the age of 90.
