Bio
Recruited from the Commonwealth Bank Football Club, Bill Hay arrived at Glenferrie Oval in 1958 as the first of three brothers to represent Hawthorn during the club's golden era. Standing 180cm, Hay was a solid utility who managed four senior appearances in the 1958 season as the Hawks worked to establish themselves as a league power. While he was unable to cement a permanent spot in the senior lineup, eventually departing the club after a single season, his brief tenure paved the way for a significant family legacy; he was the older brother of Phil and Sted Hay, both of whom would go on to become premiership players in Hawthorn's breakthrough 1961 side.
