Bio
The son of 1991 Hawthorn premiership player Andrew Gowers, Billy Gowers originally entered the AFL system via the rookie draft with Carlton but was delisted after two seasons without making a senior appearance. Determined to earn a second chance, he spent a year honing his craft with Footscray in the VFL, where his strong form compelled the Western Bulldogs to recruit him as a rookie ahead of the 2018 season. Gowers made an immediate impact at the Whitten Oval, establishing himself as a energetic medium forward capable of creating opportunities from nothing, a trait that saw him surprisingly top the club's goalkicking table in his debut year. Despite this breakout season, he struggled to maintain consistency in form and accuracy over the subsequent two years, eventually falling out of the senior rotation before being delisted at the end of 2020.
