Bio
Recruited from VFA club Oakleigh as a mature-age prospect, Bob Jones was selected by St Kilda with pick 16 in the 1987 National Draft to provide immediate physical presence for a developing list. Already 26 years old upon his debut in 1988, he was a robust key position utility who rotated between the ruck and defensive posts to support the team's spine. While he brought valuable state league experience to Moorabbin, Jones found it difficult to cement a permanent role in the senior side, frequently shuffling between the ones and the reserves. He played 20 games over three seasons as a depth player during the Darrel Baldock and early Ken Sheldon eras before departing the club at the end of 1990.
