Bio
Recruited from East Perth with pick 18 in the 2017 National Draft, Brandon Starcevich arrived at the Brisbane Lions carrying a famous football surname as the nephew of premiership player Craig Starcevich. After a patient start to his career where he bided his time in the reserves, he cemented his spot in the senior side in 2020 and rapidly evolved into one of the competition’s premier lockdown defenders. Often tasked with nullifying the opposition's most dangerous small forwards, his disciplined, physical approach and ability to compete in the air made him an unsung hero of the Lions' defensive unit during their sustained run of finals appearances and premiership success in the mid-2020s.
Following eight seasons and 132 games in Queensland, Starcevich requested a trade return to his native Western Australia ahead of the 2026 season, joining the West Coast Eagles. The move provided the Eagles with an immediate injection of high-level experience and defensive grit. Now established as a senior campaigner, he plays a crucial role in the West Coast backline, tasked with shutting down key opponents while offering leadership and structural stability to his new club.
