Bio
Hailing from Belconnen in the ACT, Brett Allison arrived at North Melbourne in the late 1980s and established himself as a lively small forward. Nicknamed "Fruity," he was renowned for his pace, crumbing ability, and spectacular vertical leap, famously captured in his 1991 Mark of the Year over Gavin Wanganeen. Throughout the 1990s, Allison was an integral part of the Kangaroos' forward setup, often profiting from the contests created by tall targets Wayne Carey and John Longmire. His tenure at Arden Street coincided with the club's golden era under Denis Pagan, where he became a dual premiership player, contributing significantly to the 1996 and 1999 flag-winning campaigns.
Following the 1999 premiership triumph, Allison was delisted by North Melbourne as the club looked to rejuvenate its list. He was subsequently offered a lifeline by Sydney via the pre-season draft, where he played a single season in 2000 to add experience to the Swans' forward line before retiring. While his final year was a brief coda to his career, Allison is best remembered as a consistent and entertaining goal-kicker for the Kangaroos, sitting comfortably among the club's most capped players and serving as a key fixture in one of the most dominant teams of the modern era.
