Bio
The younger brother of dual Brownlow Medallist Adam Goodes, Brett Goodes arrived in the AFL via a remarkably unconventional pathway. Originally overlooked in multiple drafts, he forged a career in state leagues with North Ballarat and Port Adelaide before joining the Western Bulldogs as a player development manager. His form in the VFL for affiliate Williamstown proved undeniable, compelling the Bulldogs to select him in the 2013 Rookie Draft at the age of 29. A solidly built defender who could distribute the ball effectively from half-back, Goodes made an immediate impact by playing the first 13 games of his debut season, providing a mature body in a developing backline. However, injuries and the club's shift toward a younger list limited his opportunities in subsequent years, and despite being delisted and re-rookied to extend his tenure, he concluded his time at the elite level at the end of 2015.
