Family

Recruited from North Myrtleford, Brian Kekovich made an immediate and explosive impact as a full-forward for Carlton, though his time at the elite level was cruelly curtailed by injury. The older brother of North Melbourne personality Sam Kekovich, Brian possessed strong hands and an innate goal sense, topping the Blues' goalkicking in both of his VFL seasons. His short career peaked during the 1968 Grand Final against Essendon, where he booted four goals to play a pivotal role in ending Carlton's 21-year premiership drought. Despite establishing himself as one of the league's most promising spearheads with 95 goals in just 34 games, a severe back injury forced him into premature retirement at the age of 23, leaving a brief but significant legacy at Princes Park.
