Bio
Arriving at the Western Oval in 1957, Brian Moloney was a mid-sized utility who is best recognised today as the patriarch of a three-generation footballing family. Standing 178cm, he broke into the Footscray lineup midway through the 1957 season, debuting in a win over South Melbourne, and was utilised primarily in defensive roles or as a fringe midfielder. While he managed 17 senior games over three seasons—including a handful of appearances during the club's competitive 1958 campaign—he was unable to command a regular spot in the starting XVIII and left the VFL scene at the end of 1959. His connection to the club was later reinforced by his son, Troy Moloney, who played 36 games for the Bulldogs in the late 1980s, and his granddaughter, Abbi Moloney, who continued the family lineage at the elite level in the AFLW.
