Bio
A towering ruckman recruited from Preston in the VFA, Brian O'Keefe arrived at the Western Oval as a mature-age prospect hoping to bolster Footscray's big-man stocks during a bleak period for the club. Standing 196cm, he possessed the raw size required for the top level and was thrown into the fray during the Bulldogs' dismal 1980 wooden spoon campaign. O'Keefe managed just three senior appearances and booted a solitary goal, struggling to secure a permanent spot in a side that was constantly shuffling its lineup in search of answers. While his VFL career was fleeting, his recruitment reflected the common pathway of VFA talent trying their luck in the big league during the 1980s before he eventually departed the senior system.
