Bio
A testament to the value of mature-age recruiting, Brody Mihocek carved out a distinguished career as one of the AFL's most reliable key forwards after being overlooked in multiple drafts. Originally a defender in the Tasmanian state league and later for Port Melbourne and Werribee in the VFL, he was eventually selected by Collingwood in the rookie draft ahead of the 2018 season. Though recruited as a backman, injuries forced a move to the forward line in his debut year, where he immediately flourished. Mihocek became the structural centrepiece of the Magpies' attack, renowned for his elite work rate, contested marking, and selflessness. His consistency was unrivalled during his prime, topping Collingwood's goalkicking list for five consecutive seasons from 2019 to 2023 and playing a vital role in the club's 2023 premiership victory.
After eight seasons and over 150 games in black and white, Mihocek moved to Melbourne for the 2026 season, adding veteran experience to the Demons' forward setup. While not possessing the raw athleticism of traditional key position players, his game is built on relentless running patterns that create space for teammates and an ability to compete fiercely in the air. Often underrated externally, his durability and accuracy in front of goal established him as a cult hero at Collingwood, leaving a legacy as a hard-working rookie who maximised every ounce of his ability before embarking on a new chapter with the Demons.
