Bio
Recruited from East Keilor in Essendon's local zone, Jack Mihocek was a stocky, red-headed utility who progressed through the under-19s to make his senior debut in late 1976. A tough half-forward and rover, Mihocek was known for his aggression and strong overhead marking ability despite lacking genuine pace, often playing taller than his 181cm frame suggested. He managed 13 games over three seasons at Windy Hill but struggled to cement a permanent spot in the senior side, eventually leaving the VFL to carve out a distinguished path in lower leagues, including stints with Frankston in the VFA and Tasmanian clubs Scottsdale and Cooee. While his own top-level tenure was brief, he is widely recognised by modern fans as the father of Collingwood premiership forward Brody Mihocek.
