Bio
Hailing from Metung in East Gippsland, Bruce Lake was a key position prospect who arrived at Windy Hill via the under-19s. Standing 189cm, he was utilized as both a ruckman and full-forward and was known for his ability to clunk a strong contested mark, though his finishing in front of the big sticks was often inconsistent. His time at Essendon was highlighted by a bittersweet selection as the 19th man in the 1968 Grand Final, where he was part of the side that fell to Carlton. Lake played alongside his younger brother Eddie during his stint with the Bombers before crossing town to Footscray in 1971, where he managed just two senior appearances before finishing his career in the VFA.
