Teams

Selected by Greater Western Sydney with pick 6 in the 2014 National Draft, Caleb Marchbank arrived in the AFL as a highly touted defensive prospect from the Murray Bushrangers. His time at the Giants was brief, yielding just seven games over two seasons due to minor injuries and homesickness, prompting a trade to Carlton ahead of the 2017 season where he reunited with list manager Stephen Silvagni. A natural intercept defender, Marchbank quickly showed his capacity to read the play and support his teammates in the air, appearing set for a long tenure in the Blues' backline. However, his career became severely compromised by a succession of debilitating injuries, including a fractured neck vertebrae and a ruptured ACL, which saw him miss entire seasons and struggle for continuity. Despite a resilient return to play in the 2023 finals series, he could not overcome his long-term durability issues and was delisted at the end of 2024, leaving the game as a talented defender who was rarely afforded a clear run at senior football.
