Family

Drafted by North Melbourne with pick 56 in the 1996 National Draft, Cameron Mooney began his career with a unique slice of football history, winning a premiership medallion in 1999 despite not registering a single statistic in the Grand Final. Following that victory, he was traded to Geelong as part of the high-profile deal that sent Kangaroos captain Leigh Colbert the other way. Initially utilized as a versatile tall and relief ruckman, Mooney's early years at Kardinia Park were often marred by ill-discipline and tribunal visits before he matured into the focal point of the Cats' forward line.

A powerful key forward with a commanding physical presence, Mooney became known for his contested marking and aggression, serving as the emotional barometer for the team during their dominant era. His career-best form arrived in 2007, where he earned All-Australian selection and topped the club's goalkicking during Geelong's drought-breaking premiership campaign. Although occasionally plagued by accuracy troubles in front of goal, particularly during the 2008 season, he remained a vital structural component of the side that claimed another flag in 2009. He retired at the end of 2011 as a triple premiership player, widely respected for his transformation from a volatile youngster into a key leader of Geelong's dynasty.
