Bio
Recruited from the powerful Ballarat Imperials in the goldfields region, Chris Bant was a capable wingman who preceded his well-travelled brother, Horrie, into the VFL ranks. He established himself as a regular contributor for St Kilda across the 1907 and 1908 seasons, often cited in match reports for his prominent work along the flanks and his ability to drive the ball forward. After leaving the Junction Oval, Bant spent three years out of the league—presumably returning to country football—before resurfacing for a brief, three-game cameo with Geelong in 1912. While his senior career was relatively short, he was a solid representative of the talent pathway between the Ballarat leagues and the VFL during the pre-war era.
