Bio
Arriving at the Junction Oval with a premiership medallion already in his pocket from West Perth, Horrie Bant was a readymade defender who immediately bolstered the St Kilda backline. He joined his brother Chris at the Saints and wasted no time establishing himself, playing 39 consecutive games from his debut and holding down key posts at centre half-back and full-back. Bant’s reliability and leadership were quickly recognised, and he was appointed vice-captain for the club’s historic first-ever final in 1907 against Carlton. After four consistent seasons with St Kilda and a solitary year with Essendon in 1910, he returned to the WAFL to finish his career with Subiaco, where he added another premiership to his collection.
