Bio
Recruited from the Bendigo Pioneers with pick eight in the 1997 National Draft, Chris Tarrant established himself as one of the most athletically gifted key forwards of the early 2000s. Renowned for his elite endurance and spectacular overhead marking, he became the focal point of the Collingwood attack, culminating in All-Australian selection in 2003. Despite his on-field impact, the intense scrutiny of the Melbourne football bubble prompted Tarrant to request a trade to Fremantle at the end of 2006, seeking a fresh environment away from the spotlight.
At Fremantle, Tarrant underwent a significant career transformation. After initially struggling to recapture his best form inside 50, he was swung into defence, where his closing speed and strength allowed him to reinvent himself as a premier full-back. Desiring to finish his playing days closer to family in Victoria, he secured a trade back to Collingwood for the 2011 season. Tarrant became a key pillar in the Magpies' backline during their premiership defence, playing in the 2011 Grand Final loss before retiring in 2012 as a player who successfully prolonged his career through discipline and adaptability.
