Bio
Recruited from Swan Districts with the sixth selection in the 2008 National Draft, Chris Yarran arrived at Carlton as a highly touted prospect known for his electrifying pace and silky ball use. While he initially displayed his potential in the forward line—most notably with a spectacular running goal against Richmond in 2012—he found greater consistency after shifting to half-back. In this role, Yarran utilised his speed and precision kicking to break lines and launch counter-attacks, establishing himself as a key drive generator for the Blues. However, despite his natural gifts, his tenure at Princes Park was occasionally hampered by lapses in form and fitness.
Seeking a fresh start, Yarran was traded to Richmond at the end of the 2015 season. Unfortunately, his time at Punt Road was plagued by injury setbacks and personal health battles, preventing him from ever donning the yellow and black in a senior match. He was released from his contract in late 2016 to focus on his mental health, marking a premature end to the career of a player who, at his peak, was one of the most damaging rebounding defenders in the competition.
