Bio
A local Queensland talent recruited from Surfers Paradise, Clark Keating joined the Brisbane Bears shortly before their evolution into a premiership powerhouse. While an imposing and physical ruckman, his career was defined by a persistent battle with injuries that prevented him from ever completing a full regular season. Despite these setbacks, Keating possessed a rare ability to return from long layoffs with immediate intensity, often peaking specifically for finals campaigns when the Lions needed a contest-imposing big man.
This tendency earned him the enduring moniker "Mr. September." Keating became an indispensable figure during Brisbane's historic three-peat, producing dominant ruck displays in the 2001, 2002, and 2003 Grand Finals that belied his lack of match practice. He remained a one-club player until his retirement in 2006, leaving a legacy as the ultimate big-game specialist who overcame a fragile body to deliver in the moments that mattered most.
