Bio
Recruited from Newtown, Cliff "Beau" Taylor served a patient apprenticeship in the Geelong reserves, anchoring the defence in their 1937 premiership side before finally earning his senior opportunity the following year. A solid fullback, he managed ten games for the Pivotonians in 1938 but found his greatest football success after crossing Bass Strait to Tasmania. Taylor became a key figure at North Hobart, playing in back-to-back flags in the early 1940s, and later captain-coached New Norfolk to a premiership in his debut season at the helm. His contribution to the game extended well beyond his own playing days, establishing a notable football lineage that included his son Noel and grandson Jason playing at the highest level.
