Bio
Recruited from Newborough, Jason Taylor entered the VFL/AFL system with Fitzroy via the 1990 Pre-Season Draft. A tall utility capable of operating as a key forward or relief ruckman, he spent two seasons at the Lions before being traded to Hawthorn, where he played the bulk of his senior football. Taylor provided structural depth for the Hawks during the mid-1990s, offering a contest in the air and flexibility across key posts, though he often battled for a permanent spot in the starting lineup. He concluded his playing days with a single season at Collingwood in 1997 after a trade involving a swap of draft picks. While his on-field career was that of a serviceable journeyman, Taylor later established a significant legacy in football administration, becoming widely renowned as one of the game's premier talent spotters and the list management architect behind Melbourne's 2021 premiership success.
