Bio
Recruited from Wagga Wagga via Sydney's NSW scholarship program, Clinton King struggled to break into the senior side during the Swans' rise under Rodney Eade, resulting in a trade to Collingwood. While he gained initial traction at Victoria Park as a tenacious small midfielder, he fell out of favour by the end of 1999 and was offered a lifeline by Richmond. It was at Punt Road that the left-footer played his best football, transforming into a high-pressure on-baller capable of performing disciplined tagging roles or winning his own possession. King is best remembered by the Tiger army for his career-best performance against top-of-the-ladder Essendon in Round 22, 2001, where he amassed 38 disposals to help secure a finals berth. Despite this peak, he was unable to maintain consistent form over the subsequent seasons and was delisted at the conclusion of 2003.
